Carlisle Harrison

We need Carlisle Harrison’s voice, values, and dedication on Dorchester County Council.

Carlisle has dedicated his career to public service. He spent 28 years in the United States Air Force, Medical Service Corps, retiring as a Colonel. He served three times as a United States Air Force Medical Group Commander.  He’s spent decades advocating for more affordable and accessible health care for all, focusing on seniors, families, and veterans. He has served in leadership positions for multiple hospitals, clinics, and health care networks all over the country and, through his military service, the world. He has served on nonprofit boards and organizations across the spectrum of community engagement and healthcare access.

He is the immediate past chairman and current finance committee member of the Fetter Health Care Network (FHCN) board, an organization dedicated to serving the insured, uninsured, and underserved residents of Dorchester, Berkeley, and Charleston counties. Under his chairmanship, the FHCN opened the Thaddeus J. Bell Family Health Center and Pharmacy in Summerville, SC, and scheduled to open the Thaddeus J. Bell Obstetrics and Pediatrics Center and  Dorchester Family Health Center in Summerville, SC, in  2022. He earned a national certification in Health Center Governance from the National Association of Community Health Centers.

Past Treasurer of Charleston Promise Neighborhood board and current finance committee member, an organization dedicated to providing and facilitating comprehensive programs and services that support children and strengthen families, and he was instrumental in establishing its Kidswell’s School Base Health Clinics with the Medical University of South Carolina. Past President of his neighborhood homeowner’s association, recognized the importance of disaster preparedness and attended Dorchester County’s Community Emergency Response Training. Carlisle serves our community in many other ways, such as being a volunteer instructor and mentor in a Cyber-Security Apprenticeship Program, a charter member of the National African American Museum, and a charter member of the National Museum of African American History and Culture to promote the understanding of history.

Carlisle and his wife Flora have two children and seven grandchildren and live in North Charleston.
